Jake Bittle documents the impacts of climate change, adaptations to its damaging effects, and the resilience we need to build as we move forward. In The Great Displacement, Bittle tells the human-centered story of climate change taking place right now across the country.

"From half-drowned Louisiana to fire-scorched California, from the dried-up cotton fields of Arizona to the soaked watersheds of inland North Carolina, people are moving. Climate change will transform our lives—erasing historic towns and villages, pushing people toward new areas, and reshaping the geography of the United States." (Simon & Schuster)

Jake is a staff writer at Grist, where he primarily covers climate disasters and adaptation. Jake's work has appeared in The New York Times, The Drift, Architectural Record, The Nation, Popular Science, and many other publications. The Great Displacement was published in 2023 by Simon & Schuster. Jake is currently working on a book about the energy transition in Kern County, California.
